Living with diabetes means keeping an eye on more than your sugar. Over time, diabetes can affect your kidneys, liver, cholesterol and blood, so this package checks them together with your sugar control. Testing every 3 to 6 months helps you and your doctor see if your treatment is working.

• Complete blood count (CBC): Checks for anaemia, infection and overall blood health

• Fasting blood sugar (FBS): Screens for diabetes and prediabetes

• HbA1c: Your average blood sugar over the last 2 to 3 months

• Fast for 8 to 12 hours before your test. Water is fine.
• The post-meal sample is taken 2 hours after you eat. The nurse will guide you.
• Hold diabetes medicine until after the fasting sample, unless your doctor says otherwise.
• Keep your Emirates ID ready for the nurse.
