How to Use

Always take Hidrasec as advised by the doctor. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. General recommended dose: For 15 years and above: Treatment should be initiated with a single 100mg capsule given regardless of the time. Further treatment is given approximately 8 hourly until cessation of diarrhea. The daily dose should not exceed 400mg. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days then the patient should seek medical advice. To compensate for the loss of liquid due to diarrhea, this medicinal product should be used together with an adequate replacement of fluid and salts (electrolytes)
CAUTION: The presence of bloody or purulent stools and fever may indicate the presence of invasive bacteria. The cause of the diarrhea may be a bacterial infection that should be treated by your doctor. If you are suffering from chronic diarrhea or diarrhea caused by antibiotics if you are suffering from kidney disease or impaired liver function or if your child is suffering from prolonged or uncontrolled vomiting - Please consult the Doctor.

Description

Hidrasec 100mg hard capsules contains an active ingredient racecadotril 100mg in capsule form for the treatment of symptomatic acute diarrhea. Racecadotril is an enteric antisecretory agent, it works by reducing the secretion of water and electrolytes in the small intestine, with limited activity in the small intestine, caused by cholera toxin or inflammation without affecting the excretion activity. This helps to reduce the amount of fluid loss from the body in diarrhea. Hidrasec 100mg capsules can be used as a complementary symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea together with oral rehydration salt (ORS). If casual treatment of acute diarrhea is possible, racecadotril can be co-administered. It is suitable for adults and children above 15 years of age. If the diarrhea persists for more than 3 days and in case of severe diarrhea, the presence of blood in the stool, fever or vomiting, further observation and evaluation is necessary.
