  • Pre-filled, disposable pen that delivers a single fixed dose of 7.5mg per weekly injection
  • Subcutaneously administered
  • Active Ingredient: Tirzepatide
  • Safety Information: This drug should not be used in type 1 diabetes, in children, or during pregnancy

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription medication for adults with type 2 diabetes. It is used in combination with diet and exercise to help improve blood sugar control. The 7.5mg dose is a key step-up from the initial treatment, providing a stronger therapeutic effect for patients who require additional support in managing their condition.

Mounjaro contains the active ingredient Tirzepatide, a unique dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. This innovative dual action helps your body in several ways: - It stimulates the release of insulin only when your blood sugar levels are high, helping to control glucose spikes. - It reduces the amount of glucose produced by your liver. - It slows down how quickly food leaves your stomach, which helps you feel fuller for a longer period and can aid in reducing food cravings and appetite.

  • Enhanced Blood Sugar Control: This dosage strength continues to effectively lower HbA1c, a key measure of long-term blood sugar control.
  • Continued Weight Management: As a higher dose, Mounjaro 7.5mg is designed to provide greater appetite suppression and support continued weight loss, which is a common and beneficial effect for many patients with type 2 diabetes.
  • Optimal Titration: Stepping up to 7.5mg allows your body to gradually adapt to the medication, helping to minimize potential gastrointestinal side effects such as nausea and vomiting.
  • Use Mounjaro exactly as prescribed by your doctor and follow all directions on your prescription label.
  • Preparation: Remove the pen from refrigerator. Leave the gray base cap on until you are ready to inject. Wipe your skin with a swab and let the injection site dry before you inject your dose. Pull off the gray base cap. Make sure the pen is locked. Do not unlock the Pen until you place the clear base on your skin and are ready to inject. Pull the gray base cap straight off and throw it away in your household trash. Insert the needle (needle sold separately, not included in this pack) Place the clear base flat against your skin at the injection.
  •  Dosage Schedule: The 7.5mg dose is typically taken once weekly, after completing four weeks on the 5mg dose. You should follow your doctor's instructions for the specific timing and duration of this dose. You can inject it into your abdomen, thigh, or the back of your upper arm, making sure to rotate the injection site each week.
  • Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, you can take it as soon as possible, as long as it's within 4 days (96 hours) of the missed dose. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and resume your regular weekly schedule.
  • Important Warnings: Hypoglycemia - When used with other diabetes medicines, Mounjaro may cause low blood sugar.
  • FDA Boxed Warning: Mounjaro carries a serious warning regarding the potential risk of thyroid C-cell tumors, including Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC). Do not use this medication if you or a family member have a personal or family history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
  • Common Side Effects: While Mounjaro is generally well-tolerated, side effects can occur, especially during dosage increases. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal, and may include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and stomach pain. These are often mild to moderate and may decrease as your body adjusts. For severe or persistent side effects, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately.
