Valupak Folic Acid 400mcg Tablets provides Folic Acid daily. Supplementing with folate-based supplements, including folic acid, may help improve heart health and reduce your risk of heart disease risk factors. Having elevated levels of the amino acid homocysteine is associated with an increased risk of developing heart disease. Folic acid is used for preventing and treating low blood levels of folate (folate deficiency) and high blood levels of homocysteine. Supplemental Folic Acid intake increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing baby. This beneficial effect is obtained with a supplemental intake of 400g daily for at least one month before and up to three months after conception. Folic Acid also plays a role in cell division and also contributes to normal psychological function and normal blood formation.
