Description

Avoban 2% Skin Ointment is an antibiotic medicine used to treat certain skin infections such as impetigo (red sores), recurring boils, and infected hair follicles. It primarily works by stopping the growth of infection-causing bacteria on your skin and prevents the synthesis of essential proteins necessary for the survival of bacteria. Mupirocin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly and specifically binding to bacterial isoleucyl-transfer RNA (tRNA) synthetase. Thus, it prevents the skin infection from spreading. Use the medication for the full course as directed by your care team, even if you think you are better. Do not stop using it unless your care team tells you to stop it early.
