Mounjaro is a prescription drug that is used to treat Type 2 diabetes. Mounjaro is prescribed to be taken along with a balanced diet and exercise which help manage blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. The active ingredient Tirzepatide works by activating two receptors called GLP-1 and GIP to increase the level of incretins – hormones – in the body. It works by helping your body to produce more insulin when needed. It also reduces the amount of glucose, or sugar, produced by the liver, and slows down how quickly food is digested. • Use Mounjaro exactly as prescribed by your doctor and follow all directions on your prescription label.
• Preparation: Remove the pen from refrigerator. Leave the gray base cap on until you are ready to inject. Wipe your skin with a swab and let the injection site dry before you inject your dose. Pull off the gray base cap. Make sure the pen is locked. Do not unlock the Pen until you place the clear base on your skin and are ready to inject. Pull the gray base cap straight off and throw it away in your household trash. Insert the needle (needle sold separately, not included in this pack) Place the clear base flat against your skin at the injection.
• Dosage Schedule: Take your dose on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without meals. You can change your injection day if needed, as long as there are at least 3 days (72 hours) between doses.
