Fusibact 2% w/w antibiotic ointment is a topical antibiotic containing 20mg/g of sodium fusidate used for the treatment of various skin infections caused by bacteria such as Impetigo, Infected dermatitis, infected cuts and wounds. Sodium fusidate is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by the bacteria to carry out vital functions. Thus, it works by killing and stopping the growth of infection causing microorganisms, thereby clearing the infection, relieving the symptoms and blocks the release of chemicals that cause symptoms such as itching, redness and swelling. Fusibact Cream is indicated in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus especially for patients with Staphylococcus infections where other antibiotics have failed. Fusibact Cream has no cosmetic effect therefore acceptable to face and scalp infection.
